Bupivacaine Hydrochloride Description:
Bupivacaine Hydrochloride is 2-Piperidinecarboxamide, 1-butyl-N-(2, 6-dimethylphenyl)-, monohydrochloride, monohydrate, a white crystalline powder that is freely soluble in 95 percent ethanol, soluble in water, and slightly soluble in chloroform or acetone.
Bupivacaine Hydrochloride is available in sterile isotonic solutions with and without epinephrine (as bitartrate) 1: 200, 000 for injection via local infiltration, peripheral nerve block, and caudal and lumbar epidural blocks. Solutions of Bupivacaine Hydrochloride may be autoclaved if they do not contain epinephrine. Solutions are clear and colorless.
Bupivacaine Hydrochloride Applications:
Bupivacaine hydrochloride is prescribed for caudal, epidural, peripheral, or sympathetic anesthetic block.On the other hand, bupivacaine hydrochloride is also a local anaesthetic of the amide type used in eye surgery. It is used in 0.25-0.75% solution and often mixed with lidocaine hydrochloride.Moreover, its action starts after about 5 minutes and lasts for about 10 hours.
Bupivacaine hydrochloride has many other effects.For example, it is a local anesthetic used for peripheral nerve block, infiltration, and sympathetic, caudal or epidural block.
